Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Overcome difficult past experiences and focus on the solution

Available in-person in Calgary and virtually across Alberta.

Sometimes, you know exactly what is bothering you. A particular experience, memory or situation may still bring up a strong emotional or physical reaction, even though you know it happened in the past. Other times, it's less clear. You may simply notice that certain situations leave you feeling anxious, stuck on edge or overwhelmed.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an approach that can help you work through distressing experiences in a structured and focused way. It may be a good fi t if you're looking for a different way to process difficult experiences and move forward without feeling that you need to talk through every detail.

What Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or ART, is a form of psychotherapy that combines guided eye movements with visualization and other therapeutic techniques.

During an ART therapy session, you'll work with a trained therapist to focus on a difficult memory, experience or issue. Guided eye movements are used alongside a structured process that helps you notice and work with the images, sensations, and reactions connected to it.

Is This How You Feel?

ART therapy might be beneficial for you if:

  • A past experience still feels emotionally present, even though it happened some time ago

  • Certain places, situations, sounds, or reminders bring up a strong reaction

  • You find yourself replaying an event or wishing you could stop thinking about it

  • You avoid certain situations because of how they make you feel

  • You feel anxious, on edge or easily overwhelmed.

  • You know why something bothers you, but talking about it hasn't brought the relief you were hoping for

  • You feel ready to work on something that has been taking up more space in your life than you'd like

How Can Accelerated Resolution Therapy Help You?

ART therapy provides a structured way to work with diffi cult memories, emotions and reactions. During ART therapy sessions, we may focus on the images, sensations, thoughts or situations that feel distressing. You'll be guided through the process at a pace that feels manageable for you.

  • Work through fears or phobias

  • Manage anxiety and distress

  • Process experiences that continue to feel unresolved

  • Feel less affected by triggers or reminders

  • Reduce the emotional intensity connected to a difficult memory

Depending on your needs, ART may help you:

  • Address recurring images or thoughts connected to past experiences

You remain a crucial part of the process throughout therapy. You do not need to share every detail of a difficult experience for us to begin the work.

The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on what you're working through. Some people notice meaningful changes relatively quickly, while others benefit from a longer course of therapy.

Hi, I’m Lara.

Meet Lara, Experienced ART Therapist in Calgary

I work with people who are dealing with experiences that continue to affect how they feel, think, or respond — even when those experiences are in the past. Sometimes you know exactly what you want to work on. Other times, you may simply notice that certain memories, situations, or triggers still bring up a strong reaction, and you're ready for things to feel different.

My approach is practical, supportive, and tailored to you. With Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), we can work with difficult experiences in a structured way, without you having to revisit or describe every detail. My background has taken me through diff erent work environments, including photography, hospitals, and now counselling. Along the way, I’ve learned how important it is to listen carefully, understand the bigger picture and meet people where they are.

Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed by certain experiences, or simply ready to work through something that has been affecting you, we can start there.

I'm glad you're here.
